In the celebration of the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and the instrumentality of the priest. The whole Christ is truly present -- body, blood, soul, and divinity -- under the appearances of bread and wine, the glorified Christ who rose from the dead. This is what the Church means when she speaks of the "Real Presence" of Christ in the Eucharist.
Requirements
This is a two year preparation program. During the second year of preparation each unit is required before the Sacrament is celebrated. All requirements have the purpose of modeling how to live our Catholic faith within our family, parish, and community.

Units to be completed:
1. Registered Parish Member: The Communicant and family must be registered as members of the parish. Communicant’s copy of Baptism certificate must be turned in to the parish office or program Coordinator.
2. Attendance and full participation of First Eucharist (Communion) classes is required. Communicant can only miss 3 classes and still be in a good standing to receive the Sacrament.
3. Reconciliation: Communicant and at least one parent are expected to attend the Reconciliation Retreat.
4. Mass Attendance: Communicant is expected and required to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation. Each communicant will receive a Mass booklet to be signed after each Mass.
Este es un programa de preparación de dos años. Durante el segundo año de preparación se requiere cada unidad antes de celebrar el Sacramento. Todos los requisitos tienen el propósito de modelar cómo vivir nuestra fe católica dentro de nuestra familia, parroquia y comunidad.

Unidades a completar:
1. Miembro registrado de la parroquia: el comulgante y la familia deben estar registrados como miembros de la parroquia. La copia del certificado de bautismo del comulgante debe entregarse a la oficina parroquial o al coordinador del programa.
2. Se requiere asistencia y participación total en las clases de Primera Eucaristía (Comunión). El comulgante solo puede faltar a 3 clases y aún estar en buena posición para recibir el Sacramento.
3. 3. Reconciliación: se espera que el comunicante y al menos uno de los padres asistan al retiro de reconciliación.
4. 4. Asistencia a misa: se espera y se requiere que el comulgante asista a la misa dominical y los días de precepto. Cada comulgante recibirá un folleto de Misa para ser firmado después de cada Misa.
