    • TEEN CONFIRMATION 2026-2027

LEADERS: Deacon John McGarrity & Judy Ortiz

Confirmation is not a graduation, it is a commissioning.

In Baptism, you were made new. In Confirmation, you are strengthened and sent.
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8).

This sacrament seals you with the Holy Spirit, deepening your identity as a child of God and uniting you more firmly to Christ and His Church (CCC 1303). You are equipped with His gifts—wisdom, understanding, courage—to stand firm in a world that needs truth.

This is your “yes” to God.
      Not later. Not someday. Now.

As St. Catherine of Siena said, “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

That fire is the Holy Spirit.

You are not finishing your faith, you are stepping into your mission.
To witness. To lead. To live boldly for Christ.

The Church sends you. Heaven strengthens you. Christ calls you.

      Will you respond?

      HOW IT WORKS:

At the Shrine of Padre Pio, Confirmation preparation is a two-year faith formation program designed to ensure that each teen is both spiritually and catechetically ready to receive this sacrament. To be eligible, a teen must first complete one full year of Life Teen with at least 85% attendance. This first year of formation may be completed either here at the Shrine of Padre Pio or at another parish with an equivalent high school youth ministry program, though verification of attendance from the previous parish is required if transferring. The second year is dedicated specifically to Confirmation formation. Please note that 8th Grade EDGE does not count toward the two-year requirement, as Confirmation preparation is reserved for high school teens. Therefore, each candidate must complete two consecutive years in high school, the first being Life Teen (or an equivalent program), and the second being Confirmation.

      CONFIRMATION PREP REQUIRMENTS:

In order to enter Confirmation preparation, a candidate must have completed one full year of faith formation with consistent attendance (see above). In addition, the following requirements must be met:

      • Registered Parish Member:

        • Candidate and family must be registered members of the parish.

        • Copies of the candidate’s Baptism and First Eucharist (Communion) certificates must be submitted to the parish office or Program Coordinator at registration.

      • Attendance and Participation:

        • Full participation in Confirmation classes is required.

        • Candidates may miss no more than three classes and still remain in good standing.

        • Parents are required to attend scheduled parent sessions as part of the program.

      • Confirmation Retreat:

        • Attendance at the retreat is mandatory.

        • Signed registration, permission, and medical release forms must be submitted prior to attending.

      • Reconciliation:

        • Candidates are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation regularly.

        • Multiple opportunities are offered throughout the year.

      • Mass Attendance:

        • Candidates are expected to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation consistently.

      • Saint Project:

        • Each candidate must select a saint as a model of prayer and devotion.

        • The project includes a written report on the chosen saint.

      • Service and Spiritual Hours:

        • Candidates must complete designated service and spiritual hours as part of their preparation.

      • Sponsor Requirements:

        • Letter of Good Standing from the sponsor’s parish.

        • Copies of the sponsor’s Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation certificates.

        • If married, documentation that the sponsor is married in the Catholic Church.

        • Sponsors must attend all scheduled meetings.
