The Prayer Blanket Ministry provides blessed blankets to those that are ill or in the hospital. The fleece blankets are cut and knots are tied around the edges. A prayer is said for each knot and a medal of St. Padre Pio is attached. It is our hope that the blanket will bring comfort to those recieving it knowing that they are covered with the prayers of those who made the blanket. The group meets the 2nd Monday of the month in the kitchen area after the 8:30am mas. No sewing experience is needed! All are welcome to join.

Liturgy Team
Upon notifications from St. Padre Pio’s Staff, a Team of Bereavement Ministers will make the initial contact with the family to help begin the preparations for the Mass Liturgy. They will come to the home, if desired, or wherever is convenient for the applicable family, to help families with the intricate details for the CELEBRATION OF LIFE in preparing the funeral liturgy! There is a workbook (“Through Death to Life” by Joseph M. Champlin c. 2012) that gives families an opportunity to pick every part of the mass, from the opening prayer to the final commendation, selection of music, and farewell before departing for the burial. This ministry can act as the focal point between families and the other aspects that are involved with the church funeral (i.e. Music Director, Reception Team, Church Staff, etc.) In addition, members work with families in developing a Mass program. At the time of the Mass, Liturgy Team members help out as needed from ushering, directing family members as appropriate, assisting the priest as needed, etc.
Reception Team
If the family desires, a reception can be held after the funeral ceremony at St. Padre Pio. A reception provides the decedent’s family and friends, who may not have seen each other in many years, an opportunity to enjoy GREAT food in a relaxed, memory-exchanging atmosphere. Our Reception Team is made up of four sub teams and there are 12 (men, women, couples) on each team for the 12 apostles. These fine folks coordinate with other parish members to help with making or baking or buying something to bring to our “Gathering of Life” reception for your family. Other team members help serve and then clean up.
